Mary Ellen Doyle Markowitz is a practicing psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience in the field of mental health. She has worked in inpatient hospital settings and mental health agencies. She currently maintains a private practice in Greenwich, Connecticut as well as facilitating parenting groups for mothers of children from infancy to adolescence.
Her training includes working with individuals, families, teenagers and couples. Her clinical specialties include helping parents who are struggling with child development issues such as discipline, learning disabilities, anxiety and the stress of the teenage years. She also works with individuals of all ages who are dealing with issues of trauma, depression, anxiety and relationship struggles. Additionally, she sees couples who are stuck in negative communication patterns, or who simply want to improve the quality of their relationship. Mary Ellen also helps young adults who are struggling with career and relationship issues. Everyone’s journey is unique and she believes we all are entitled to a life that is complete with work that is fulfilling as well as healthy relationships. She helps clients discover and overcome the stumbling blocks that get in the way of one’s ability to lead authentic, meaningful and thus happier lives.
Mary Ellen holds a Masters degree from New York University School of Social Work and an undergraduate degree in English and Secondary Education from Boston College where she graduated with honors. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
